LaunchCode Announces Free Fall Coding Class in Cape Girardeau

LaunchCode, a nonprofit that connects aspiring technologists with apprenticeships and jobs in tech, is announcing LC 101 Cape Girardeau, a free 20-week computer programming course designed to put people on a path towards a career in technology. This is the first LaunchCode coding class to be offered in Southern Missouri. Thanks to the support of Codefi, Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce, Element 74 and the Missouri Technology Corporation, this class is free for all participants. Registration is now open at www.launchcode.org/lc101.

“Anyone interested in pursuing a career in technology, regardless of prior experience, will find no better and more affordable learning resource than LaunchCode’s LC 101 course. It’s free, open to the public and designed to give participants the in-demand skills needed to launch a career in tech,”said Mark Bauer, VP of Operations at LaunchCode.

WHAT: LC 101 is a free 20-week coding class. Foundational concepts are taught in Python, followed by specialized skill tracks in Java or Javascript.

WHO: Anyone 18 years old or older with the aptitude and drive to gain coding skills to further their current career, or begin a new career in tech. No previous coding experience required. Interested individuals will need to complete an online application and aptitude test, as well as a beginning coding assignment.

WHERE: Codefi, 339 Broadway, Cape Girardeau, Mo

WHEN: Mondays and Thursdays from 6pm - 9pm starting on October 24, 2016.
